NOVEMBER PLEIN AIR SCHEDULE

ALOHA NOVEMBER, ALOHA ARTISTS! Well November's here, along with the season's first big swell-- & I do love a northwest swell. We don't really get the giant waves here on the east side of the Big Island, but it's so fabulous to feel the ocean on my face, & to breathe the heavy salt mists. I recently stood at Scenic Point watching big waves break on Blonde Reef, the white water rolling violently onto the breakwater. Big waves always bring a smile to my mug.
It seems we must constantly familiarize ourselves with this magnificent island that we're so privileged to call home, to keep pace with rapid changes, discover ancient secrets, & admire the aina. As painters, we can hook up with the Kona & Kohala Plein Air groups. It is a wonderful way to visit new locations, revisit old favorite spots, & meet artists! There's plein air groups on every island, but to paint with the other Big Island groups is a simple matter of getting on the email lists & doing the drive. Kona & Kohala groups both paint on Friday...

NOVEMBER SCHEDULE, EN PLEIN AIRE-
every Thurs. 8am, bring your own stuff, no fees

4-
WAI'ULI BEACH PARK,(AKA Leleiwi) Keaukaha-Every first Thursday of each month begins here. Wai'uli never stops impressing us with it's easy charm & amazing views. Tide pools & brilliant grasses, shade trees, amazing clouds, across the bay views, boats, surfers, outrageous ocean, & magnificent reflections, it just never quits. Bring "works in progress" for feedback, finish up paintings from other sessions, or start something new. A great time to reconnect with the group & see what's cooking. Kalaniana'ole Ave, to Wai'uli Beach Park, just before Richardson's, plenty parking, pavilions, water & a real restroom.

11- VIRGINIA ALDERSON'S HOUSE, Hamakua– We’ve been invited to paint at a private residence on the ocean swept cliffs at Kolekole! Virginia has graciously opened her lanai & grounds of her home to us. From Hilo: N. up Hwy 11, pass the Kolekole turnoff -over the bridge. Immediately after the bridge-makai side -is Virginia’s gated driveway. Thank you Lynn Nakim for setting this up, Thank you Virginia for your aloha!

18- KING'S LANDING (AKA- Lehia, or Pu'umaile)-It's original name is Lehia, the others are names earned through time.. At the end Kalaniana'ole Ave., just past Richardson's Beach Park, through the yellow metal gate (it'll be open), follow the dirt road along the shoreline to the end, you'll find us tucked under the trees along the shore. Views of pounding surf, wild seas, coastal Ironwoods provide ample shade. Regal Mauna Kea sits proudly before us. Parking, lua, & not much else, bring your own water.

25- BOTTOM OF HAILI STREET AT HILO BUS TERMINAL PARKING LOT- Thanksgiving Day! Not everyone is making or eating a feast..& even if you are, you may still want to take advantage of this rare opportunity to catch Hilo without the hustle & bustle of everyday. The ambiance is amazingly serene. Hopefully Gerald will be back for this, it's become a tradition.
