November Schedule

Hello Plein Air artists – the below schedule for November has been put together in part by Amy, and in part by me, Leslie. Future schedules will come from me, with Amy’s continued guidance and participation. We all thank you, Amy, for having the inspiration to bring us together as a group and for your three years of energy putting together our locations. We’ll miss your poetic prose!

Plein Air Artists of Hawaii Island (that’s us, aka PAAOHI) meets informally each Thursday morning approx. 8am – noon, but come when you can, some artists stay all day. PAAOHI has no fees, structure, instruction or rules other than that to hang out with us you need to be creating art. It's a real treat when new artists join our group, or when artists we haven't seen for awhile reappear. So if you know anyone who'd like to participate, invite them show up any Thursday, pass their email on to me and I will send them our schedule, or direct them to view the schedule on our BLOG http://www.paaohi.blogspot.com/.

The "Other Musings" section at the lower part of this email is a bulletin-board style networking source; a forum for readers to learn about upcoming shows, workshops, island wide plein air groups, etc. I'll post art-related items submitted to me via email prior to the 25th of the month.

ALOHA NOVEMBER!!!! Gorgeous colors, cool days and classic big wave action are often hallmarks of this month. Thanksgiving is always on a paint-day Thursday, so I schedule it. Not everyone is obligated to cooking or feasting or family stuffs, some of us are free to sit at the bottom of Haili street to paint citizen-free town views. Perhaps you'll have just a slice of the morning free, but that’s plenty of time to whip out a masterpiece. It's a wonderful session & truly deserves serious consideration & effort. Here's to November being extraordinary!!

NOVEMBER SCHEDULE, EN PLEIN AIRE
5- WAI'ULI- Wai'uli Beach Park, Hilo – (formerly Leleiwi). Our standing location for first Thursdays for its beauty and easy access. There are lots of different views from Wai'uli; tide pools with beautiful colors, sea grass, and the occasional turtle or flock of Nene. It is always a pleasure to paint here. Last month we had an informal midday critique which we’ll try again, so bring old or current work if you’d like feedback. On Kalaniana'ole Ave. in Keaukaha. Drive the beach road until you come to Wai'uli Beach Park, just before Richardson's. There are 2 parking areas and sets of pavilions, we usually set up in pavilions near the lifeguard stand. Lots of parking and restrooms.

12- Diane Renchler’s TOULOUCE GALLERY. Paint the funky structures, the sweeping views, the massive mango tree, or enjoy the wonderful gardens of unique Gallery Toulouce. The work inside the gallery is inspiring too! On "Onomea Scenic Route", about 2 miles down, makai side. You'll see the banners and cars. Gallery phone is 964-350. Thanks for the invite, Diane & Toulouce (the cat)!

19- Coconut Island- Moku Ola, the “Island of Life and Healing” was a place of refuge for ancient Hawaiians. Surrounded by turquoise waters just off shore of Lili’uokalani Gardens in Hilo Bay, it’s accessed by a foot bridge. Park in the small lot in the gardens, off Banyon Drive. Bring your swimsuit – there’s a diving platform and swimming around the tiny island is said to cure whatever ails you.

26-THANKSGIVING- BOTTOM OF HAILI STREET. WHY CHANGE IT NOW? IT'S A WONDERFUL THING & WE HAVE FUN EVERYTIME, RIGHT HERE IN THE BUS STOP PARKING LOT. SLAP YOUR BIRD IN THE OVEN AND COME ON DOWN...
