DECEMBER SCHEDULE, EN PLEIN AIRE

2-WAI'ULI BEACH PARK,(AKA Leleiwi) Keaukaha- Wai'uli is our location for every first Thursday of each month, simply because it has never ceased to impress with it's easy charm & amazing views. With brilliant tide pools lapping at soft grass under shade trees,across-the-bay-views, boats, surfers, outrageous ocean, magnificent reflections, & endless sky, Wai'uli really has it all. Paint something new, bring "works in progress" for feedback, or finish up work from other sessions, it's a great time to connect with artists. Kalaniana'ole Ave, to Wai'uli Beach Park, just before Richardson's Beach Park, plenty parking, pavilions, water & a real restroom.

9- KAMAE'E FALLS, U'mau'ma - Virginia Alderson and U’MAU'MA WORLD BOTANICAL GARDENS have generously granted us permission to utilize their grounds for this session. Located on private property with a gorgeous waterfall & expansive rolling hills (usually only available to patrons of the gardens). The location is a flat, exposed plateau, so bring your own shade source. The Botanical Gardens will allow us restroom usage. From Hilo: North up Hamakua Hwy. to mile marker 16, turn left there, follow signs to U’mau’ma Gardens. At the entrance to the gardens, turn mauka (away from the gardens)--follow the road uphill for approx. 1 mile. You will notice signs for Kamae’e Falls. Turn left, follow the "good" dirt road to the waterfall overlook. Bring your own water.

16- RAINBOW FALLS, Hilo – If it's raining, the falls will be pumpin, but no matters, it's always pretty here. The infamous rainbow is usually a morning thing.. gotta have the sunlight hit the falls just so. The major draw back to this site is the tourists, but then, you may see that as an opportunity. This area was once rainforest, so keep in mind that although the rainforest may have thinned out, apparently no one told the rain. Bring suitable gear. From Hilo, take Waianuenue Ave. mauka, follow the hospital signs, look for Rainbow Falls signage, turn accordingly. Bring skeeter spray if you want to explore the trails above the falls.

23- COCONUT ISLAND, MOKU OLA, Hilo- A small island off of Banyan Drive, next to Hilo Hawaiian Hotel, surrounded by turquoise waters & ancient false Kamani, the beautiful ocean views are magic. Accessed by foot bridge, but we usually end up just painting in the parking lot because it's so gorgeous right there. Water & bathrooms available.

30- WAILOA PARK, Hilo – An easy in-town-end-of-the-year location. It’s graceful curvy bridges challenge us, the expansive lawns, freely spreading trees, & calm river water provide a reflective atmosphere. In case of rain, it's an easy escape into a pavilion or under a bridge. From Manono Street enter the park on Piilani St. We usually say "meet in the area of the large pavilion", but you'll find us all about the lawns, painting boats, ducks or other fascinating stuff. Easy access, plenty parking, restrooms, ducks..
